15 giraffes to be relocated to Lake Mburo

Fifteen giraffes will tomorrow June 30 hit the road from Murchison Falls National Park in northern Uganda to Lake Mburo in western Uganda.

The giraffes were captured within the last two weeks and are being confined in a large enclosure also known as boma at Murchison Falls National Park.

“We are monitoring them and we expect them to leave for Lake Mburo in the coming week,” said Jossy Muhangi, the Public Relations Manager at the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).

A team of UWA rangers and veterinary doctors with the support of Kenya Wildlife Services set out to capture 20 giraffes but ended up with 15.
